You arrive at your next job and prepare yourself for the task ahead. It’s the local auto mechanic. You know exactly how dirty his carpets are. You were the one who convinced him he needed your services when you brought your car in last week for an oil change. Now it’s up to you to make good on your word. You’re hoping you haven’t bit off more than you can chew…
The Diagnosis
Grease, oil and tar are sticky substances in carpet. If not completely removed, they can cause re-soiling due to the sticky residue attracting more dirt. These substances can come from the outside asphalt, garages, or even from machinery involved at a work site.
Though they are difficult, they are not impossible to remove. Follow the instructions below and you’ll be sure to impress your customer.
Solution:
- Step 1: Using a bone spatula, remove any excess grease, oil or tar.
- Step 2: Apply Matrix Orange Power Gel undiluted to the spot and agitate with a bone spatula.
- Step 3: Using an extraction machine, rinse with water.
- Step 4: Apply Matrix Breakdown POG undiluted to a spotting towel. Tamp with a spotting brush on the spot. Be careful not to over-apply Breakdown as it can cause delamination.
- Step 5: Using an extraction machine, rinse thoroughly with water.
