This is one of the best carpet shampoos I have ever tried. I think it’s better than Rug Doctor and Bissell products. This is more of a professional grade. Its not sudsy at all and that means you will not have to go over your carpet again. I use this product in a very basic Bissell extractor. No pre-treatment needed. It is very worth the price. And one more thing, I did not test the product first to see if it would discolor the carpet.

Most of the “work” of carpet cleaning is done by hot water and by scrubbing, so carpet cleaners need to do 2 things. 1) have a little bit of detergent in them. 2) mask any unpleasant odors.
You can also get other stuff like teflon additives, etc, none of which have impressed me.
The scent is not too bad, but could be better. This definitely has some detergent in it. Even on the “weakest mix” setting on my steam cleaner/extractor It takes 2-3 rinses before the foam is gone. Assuming foam=cleaning power (I know this is a questionable assumption) then this stuff is concentrated.
I have had some stains that it just won’t remove, even with pre-treatment, but easily 85% are gone with one round of pretreatment and then a couple passes with the extractor.

I have used many other products in the past. I have found that just like all other ZEP products, this carpet extractor cleaner is both cost effective and cleans better than many many others I have used then tossed. To be able to order 4 at a time is really cool!
